I just got back from an awesome week of shooting Gatorade in Texas. Lots of different sports, great athletes and sweat and dirt (no blood!). The school we shot at reminded me of one of my fav shows "Friday Night Lights". High school football and basketball are huge and the whole town is into it. So cool.
I can't show you everything until the project is released. But soon - I promise!
After we spent almost 2 months creating and having custom team uniforms made we shipped about 615 lbs of uniforms, kits and accessories from Los Angeles to Dallas. This is a look at our prep area after we unpacked everything in Dallas before it was loaded on a truck to go over to the high school to start shooting. There are 3 other racks that are not shown in these pictures - Gatorade is always a fun and huge shoot!
The start of "making dirt". We use a variety of fullers earth colors mixed together to replicate what you would see on a football, soccer or baseball field. Some schools now have artificial turf so this helps us give the shots that "game day" look.
My awesome assistants Amy and Maggie - in a rare moment of down time.
We had to make a stop at the famous Texas fast food place - WHATABURGER. It's so 1950's you gotta love it. Although people did think I was crazy standing here while the girls took a photo of me. Crazy California girls...
Shot of me shooting sunset with my blackberry was taken by Mark Rockwood one of the photographers on the shoot - his idea and I loved it!
We had a great time shooting in Texas and are looking forward to another week of doing the same in the Spring.

loved this post and getting to see more about your work. I like learning about the process and it seems like you think through many of the details that could easily be overlooked, like the dirt. That picture of you taking a picture is gorgeous and I dare say frameable. Looking forward to seeing more about this shoot.
Your job, Cindy, your job... Too cool! And I do want to try one of these burgers...
