Carnival

We went to the traveling carnival the other night  and here is what caught my eye... I absolutely love these rickety old carnivals with the carneys that have been doing it forever and nothing is shiny and new.  But hey, that's just me.

I love carnivals. This one looks like so much fun. We have a vintage steam fair that comes round every year and I love looking at everything.

That first picture of the doll and the clowns are quite eerie.

Real carneys are scary as sh*t and, after one too many bad experiences, I'll never trust one to run my ride again, but I do love the ambiance. Funnel cake ftw!

It's got some kind of creepy allure (or alluring creepiness)... Great inspirations!

We never have these good old fashioned carnivals in London. They are such a great day out! (Although I must admit that the 2nd last pic with the clowns nearly had me running for the hills screaming!)

there's a foreign film called Circo coming out about a traveling family from Mexico that puts up there act. looks interesting and your post reminded me of it. I studied lit in grad school and Rabelais is this french author who used the idea of carnival in his work. it is thought that during a carnival the everybody is considered and equal, even people who are divided by social barriers etc.

Sorry for the long comment but your images are always so thought provoking.
