Alice Waters x Dosa

Chef Alice Waters of Chez Panisse signing her latest book

After a very rainy Sunday morning here in LA the sun came out just in time to buzz over to the Dosa x Alice Waters party, benefiting Alice's "Edible Schoolyard Project", in downtown LA. Always a fun party, great food (when the menu is prepared by renowned chef, Alice Waters, how could it not be?), interesting people, beautiful Dosa clothing by Christina Kim, and a spectacular setting.

Dork Moment #1: asking Alice if she would mind speaking to my friend (via my cell phone) who is a huge foodie, but could not be there. Yeah I know, highly embarrassing but he loved it!

Dork moment #2:  I also ran into the talented and ultra cool, Nina Garduno who designs/owns the Free City line and forgot her name! Nice...  Check out the prior post on her clothing line and her rad store HERE

Alice Waters x Dosa

I was invited to attend an Alice Waters event supporting The Edible Schoolyard. The event was put on by one of my fav clothing lines, Dosa.

It was held in the Dosa loft in downtown Los Angeles. Lots of fun, interesting people, great food (of course!), shopping for beautiful Dosa clothing and being able to spend some one on one time with Alice Waters hearing about her incredible foundation, her restaurant Chez Panisse and her passion for cooking and healthy food.

Having my good friend Renee in town that weekend made the day even more special and fun.

Beatrice And The Boots

Every once in awhile you see someone from across the room and think to yourself "rad boots, necklace, etc - wonder where they got it?" So glad I stopped this awesome girl and asked!  We ran into each other at the Dosa party on Sunday and she was wearing the raddest boots I have ever seen so I decided I had to ask where the hell she got them...

Turns out her name is Beatrice Valenzuela and she is a local Los Angeles designer and the boots are from her line  How rad is that? Besides being really cool and beautiful she is also super talented. I am still drooling over those boots. Yep, Beatrice designs the sickest, coolest shoes and if you click HERE   you can see her collection.

As far as that gorgeous necklace, amazing ring and the awesome earrings she is wearing? That's her friend Kathryn's line called DREAM COLLECTIVE.

So great to meet her and find out about 2 LA designers I am now in love with.

Dosa - A Visual Feast

Had the wonderful opportunity to go to a party for the gorgeous line DOSA this weekend. The woman behind Dosa is Christina Kim, who has for many years inspired and amazed me with her creativity and beautiful designs - just look at what a "visual feast" this party was.

Beyond the visual aspect is the amazing and wonderful fact that DOSA is an eco and human friendly line. Christina is known for using not only recycled materials and scraps from her own factory but also from around the world. She prides herself on hiring local artists in other countries (usually at double their normal rate) and using natural dyes for her apparel line.

Besides showing pieces from the Dosa Spring and Summer 2010 collection (drool), and an amazing collection of vintage jewelry from Oaxaca, there were some amazing things to eat. Turkey dogs, vegan dogs and 100% grass fed beef dogs by the amazing Sue Moore of Let's Be Frank, as well as the locally made paletas and popsicles (watermelon, coconut, tamarindo, mango etc.) which were to die for.

Leave it to Christina to incorporate all these aspects into a party and make it the most beautiful place you have ever seen.

A perfect Sunday afternoon.
