Abby Sails Away

I wasn't able to see Abby Sunderland off on Saturday like I had planned (I have been watching her blog and been waiting for this day) as I had a photo shoot in Encinitas. But my husband Ian was nice enough to go down to Marina del Rey and take a lot of great shots for me - I almost felt like I was there. He was able to get a ride on someone's boat so he could get these shots of her going through the harbor and out to sea.

In case you don't know about Abby... She is 16. She is sailing around the world by herself. Non Stop. In a 40 ft boot called Wild Eyes. She will be the youngest person (male or female) to accomplish this. Abby is RAD!

Who Wore It Better?

I was loving this Gryphon trench coat the minute I saw it on Sea of Shoes Blogger, Jane Aldridge. Its a design that Jane and her mom Judy (Atlantis Home blog) designed for Gryphon and I was eagerly awaiting its arrival in stores or on line.

From the flared sleeves to the awesome belt with pouch, every detail looked so perfect and cool.

Shopbop is now selling it and I have to say - I am not sold on it now.  This may be a simple case of, its all how you wear something..  Jane looks great in it, but seeing the pics on shopbop it didn't really do it for me...    Maybe the rain here all week is clouding my thinking....

One thing is for sure, Jane Aldridge has awesome style!

The Awesome Lyn-Z

I had the pleasure of working on a photo shoot with Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins a few years back and she was one of the nicest girls you will ever meet.

So I am stoked that my friend and fellow skateboarder, Xavier Lannes  just interviewed her for his amazing blog   I SKATE, THERE FORE I AM .

I am only give give you a taste of the interview and the photos here - you'll want to got to his website to see the rest of this insanely good interview with one of my favorite female skateboarders.

Here is the intro to the interview Xavier did with Lyn-Z.

Lyn-Z is really a phenomenon in skateboarding: she was the first female to jump the gap in the DC ramp in 2004, and she was only 15 years old at the time (see the video from http://www.skatedaily.net/ here), she was the first female to land a McTwist 540 on a skateboard in an art and music event held in Paris' historic Grand Palais, built for the 1900 Paris Expedition. She is also a sensation in contests (see results below): she got the 1st place at the X Games 10, 1st place at the X Games 13, 2nd place at the X Games 14.

Yep - that's still Lyn-Z just with dark hair! I love how she easily mixes up her style and look continuously.

Life Is Beautiful

Sometimes when driving around Los Angeles you see some cool stuff to photograph...

This one really doesn't relate to the others but I like it.

Isn't THAT Interesting...

UPDATE: 2:45 PM - I am back!   No  "Content Warning" any more. Got rid of the Bloglovin icon and I am OK.... What a morning...

But keep in mind if you are using this icon (cool drawing of edgy woman w/nipple exposed) and someone reports your blog,  you can have it happen too... sad but true.

Well all I can say is either I am really popular or "some" people have too much time on their hands these days.

It seems as if someone has found some of the content in my blog "objectionable" in content.

The only thing we can figure out is it was perhaps the Bloglovin icon that I had with a nipple exposed so its now been changed to the flashing Eiffel tower you see to the right.

I always figure that if something offends me or I don't like it I just don't go there again - end of story.

But this person has reported it to Google/Blogspot - so now you see a "content advisory" page come up before you enter my blog - and I wanted to just say that I am sorry you have to go through all that to get here.

I want to assure you all that its still "me" running this blog and nothing weird going on here except  places I have been, fashion I like, and sometimes a piece on a girl ripping it up in the real world....

I have submitted all my paperwork to Google and am waiting for their review process so they can remove the warning - keeping fingers crossed!

But... I do want to personally thank all of you who enjoy this blog and that keep coming back day after day - you really mean a lot to me!

Hair Raising

Charlie Le Mindu is the master of these insane wigs and head pieces (what else would you call them?). Fun to look at - but I wouldn't want to have to wear one - they look heavy!
