We headed down to Olvera Street in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday to check out the 81st annual "Blessing of the Animals". People bring everything from fish to llamas to have them blessed by the Archbishop.
This year was crazy. The cow covered in a blanket of flowers that leads the parade, collapsed 2 minutes in (heat and pregnancy they said) and had to be placed on a flatbed cart to lead the parade the rest of the way (the cow is symbolic and they were not proceeding with out her), a goat kept attacking a llama and trying to milk from it, turtles, snakes, fish and even a basket full of kittens were carried by people of all ages, Chihuahuas were everywhere and of course were barking up a storm at every animal they came across. All and all a fun but crazy afternoon.
Oh yeah and poor Ian got pooped on big time by a huge bird. But that's good luck right?

The woman snuggling with her iguana is so damn cute! I love the pic of the papel picado in the sky too! : )
Oh wow. That looks incredible. I've never seen anything like that.
Looks like fun to see, and shame about getting pooped on. It's happened to the best of us, hehe.
