Bethany Hamilton Shoot

Got to work with and style rad surfer, and shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton a couple weeks ago in Malibu - always wanted to meet her so I was super stoked to be booked on this shoot by my friend and super cool photographer, Laura Doss.  People all over the world know Bethany's inspiring story and a few came up to her on the shoot just to tell her so. Bethany is not your average girl - just 3 weeks after the shark attack she was back in the water surfing, teaching herself to paddle and get up quickly with one arm. She is now a pro surfer and a total inspiration. The movie about Bethany's journey, "SOUL SURFER"  (Sony Pictures) hits theaters this April.

On My Mind

This "Butterfly Kaftan" top has been haunting me all weekend. Tried it on at Planet Blue in Santa Monica on Saturday morning and have been thinking about it ever since. Should have just bought it on the spot... I think it would be great to wear to dinner with skinny jeans and tan suede boots while I am shooting in Vegas this week. (thinking out loud here). Don't you hate it when you second guess yourself?

Weekend Shoot - Part 2

On Sunday we shot at Mountain High Resort in Wrightwood. Weird going from hot and sunny Laguna Beach on Saturday, to shooting in snow on Sunday - made for an all around weekend - which is probably only possible in Southern California. Had another great day with the crew and models - look how fun they are - how could I not have a good time?

In fact Courtney (in the red jacket making a small snowman) is super rad - she has a Tumblr called CocoSirens that you really need to check out - lots of cool inspirational pics and shots from her modeling shoots. Gorgeous and a cool girl - what's not to love?

A Tough Day At Work

Had a rough day at work on Saturday. Got to style 5 gorgeous guys and girls in surf lifestyle apparel for a Japanese client. Temperature in Laguna Beach was 76 degrees, craft service delivered guacamole and chips to us on the beach,  the water was gorgeous and the only snag in the day was the beach mansion that caught on fire (wasn't us!). Our guys jumped the fence and held it at bay with hoses until the fire department arrived. Just another crazy day at the office.

Have A Relaxing Weekend

I'm off on a surfing shoot on Saturday and then a snowboarding shoot on Sunday - so no "relaxing" for me this weekend. But I do love how close everything is in Los Angeles - one day surf, next day snow - all within a few hours drive of each other. Can't beat that!  Hope you all have a great weekend!
