The X-Games athletes tribute to skier Sarah Burke...
This 300 sq ft cabin was built in the 1800's. It's lived in year round.
Aspen. Photo shoot. Gondola's, Snowcats. Snowmobiles. 11,550 ft up. Good food. Great crew. Outhouses. Awesome client. Rad athletes. Fresh powder. Snowball fight. Log Cabins. Icy roads. Solar power. X-Games. Snow angels. Good times.
For this shoot some of the locations were so remote that we took a gondola to the top of Aspen Mountain, then boarded a (luxury) private snowcat (blasting rock music for our drive - of course ) and went deep into the mountains to a couple different cabins & then when needed, rode on snowmobiles to location spots. Don't let the sunny photos fool you - it was damn cold at times! Some of us hit the X-Games at night or ate dinner at some of Aspens' amazing restaurants. It was a pretty great time on and off the mountain due to the amazing crew we had!
** What you normally see in a studio setting is what we all helped take up/down the mountain for the shoot - lots of apparel, shoes & accessories, photo gear, styling kits, food & drinks, hair & make-up stuff, etc. etc. And it all has to fit in those bins on the side of the cat or inside with us... At that point packing light becomes an art!
